City of Nanjing
Having been the national capital of six different dynasties. In 2018, Nanjing's urban GDP reached around $190 billion, helping the Jiangsu province capital retain its title as one of the most important cities in East China. There are over 53 universities with over 850,000 students in Nanjing; it also has more than 120 national research and development platforms.
Nanjing is thought to be one of the birthplaces of the contemporary Chinese industry. Today, with traditional industrial foundation along with cutting-edge industrial developments in intelligence and green technologies, entrepreneurship and innovation are also on the rise in the city. According to Forbes's list of Best Commercial Cities in Mainland China, Nanjing ranks fourth, next to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
City of Suzhou
An economic powerhouse, with a focus on innovation and high tech. Located in the centre of the Yangtze River Delta and only 25 minutes by high-speed train to neighbouring Shanghai. According to official statistics, the city's GDP hit 1.86 trillion Yuan ($270.68 billion) last year, a year-on-year increase of 6.8 %, ranking first among the cities in Jiangsu province and seventh in China.
City of Wuxi
A traditionally key manufacture hub of China, with 6 million population, with focus on industrial transformation and upgrades has transformed itself into the key player for the development of Internet of Thing in China, hosted the last four World Internet of Things Convention. As of 2019, the city's GDP per Capital was at $22,500, with the city's GDP hit 1.1 trillion Yuan ($160 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, ranking it 17th among the wealthiest cities in China.
City of Nantong
An eastern city situated 150 km north of Shanghai. Traditional, the City of Nantong's economy, has benefited from the textile industry, which accounts for about half of all production in China. With the city's solid industrial base and many industrial parks and platforms. Since 2015, Nantong started its restructuring of the economy, with a focus on next-generation information technology and advanced intelligent terminals and chips. Along with the spillover effect from the City of Shanghai, Nantong's GDP hit 938 billion Yuan ($135.3 billion) in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of 6.2 %.
Criteria and costs
1. We aim to bring up to 25 businesses to join our 2020 GetAhead Programme in China, with a slight preference on companies involves in Big Data, AI, Health Care and Education.
2. Selection process:
a. Recommendation from the accelerator/incubator.
b. A five-page business plan, with a letter of recommendation from an existing investor.
c. A Selection committee combined of directors from DSC, Chinese local government investment bureau officials, as well as our advisors, will execute the final selection.
